Catherine "Kay" Edgar was born on March 28, 1935 in Caribou, Maine to the late Charles and Leota Rideout. She passed away on September 1, 2017 in Canton, Michigan at the age of 82.

Kay was the cherished wife of Richard for over 62 years. Loving mother of Diana (John) McLean, Nancy (Michael) Weber and David (Maggie) Edgar. Proud grandma of Daniel (Lindsay) McLean, Kathryn McLean, Joanna McLean, Jessica (Charlie) Hoch, Jeremy (Carolin) Weber, Jason (Amanda) Weber, Joseph (Allison) Weber, Isabel Edgar, Emma Edgar, Olivia Edgar and Michael Edgar and great-grandma of Moxon, Emilia and Callen McLean and Mateo Weber. Also Grandma-in-love to Rachel (Jordan) Underwood (Annabelle and Norah) and Lauren Ramsey. Dear sister of Floyd (Martha) Rideout, Elizabeth (the late John) Bristol and the late Charlotte (the late Andrew) Schmidt. Beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Kay was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law Mary Ann Rideout and her nephew Brian Rideout.

Kay arrived prematurely in the midst of the Depression and surprised everyone by holding on to life long before the days of neonatal care. While never rich in worldly possessions, her family had everything they needed, an abiding trust in God and lots and lots of love. They relocated to Royal Oak, Michigan, a momentous move that led to her meeting the love of her life, Dick Edgar. They married, spent time in the Navy, having their first child, Diana in El Centro, California. A move back to Detroit brought them to Greenview Ave. where they would add Nancy and David to their growing family as well as a wealth of neighborhood friends. She devoted herself to her family and they flourished under her love and care. She faithfully looked after hers and Dick's parents and retained a treasured closeness to her siblings and their children. The addition of grandchildren and then great grandchildren brought her immense joy. She was also actively involved in First Baptist of Royal Oak (now Genesis) where her faith grew, lifelong friends were made and opportunities to serve abounded. Kay departed prematurely in the midst of Alzheimer's but she surprised no one by leaving a legacy of faith, hope and love that will last for many generations of all those privileged to know and love her.

The Edgar family will receive friends for a memorial gathering on Friday September 15, 2017 from 4-8 pm and on Saturday September 16, 2017 from 11:30 am, until the time of her memorial service, 1 pm, at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd. (east of Newburgh and I-275) in Livonia. Inurnment at 10 am on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
